One of my two complaints about the PX4 compact is now removed. Thanks to @mfrey for the special key!
Now waiting for @LangdonTactical to offer RMR installations!
Annd, just like that I'm in the market for a light bearing AIWB rig. I have a nice tlr3 holster from JMCK that would probably work, but it's strong side.
That is just awsome!!! PM sent to @mfrey

Hey fellas, I'm new around here.
Hopefully this is the right place to post.
I just got a new PX4 Compact three weeks ago and I've already installed the Langdon TJIB and Stealth Levers.
It's an incredible pistol and I can't believe I slept on the PX4s for so long. Wanted to upgrade the sights so I took it to a local "gunsmith" to have sights installed.
The TLDR is:
- Took PX4 Compact to local gunsmith to have Trijicon HDs installed.
- Told the guy they're know to be tricky
- Was assured it wouldn't be a problem.
- Leave feeling good, excited to see new sights.
- Come back to shop
- "Gunsmith" hands me slide with factory sights still installed.
- Hands me trijicon HD sights.
- "I tried man, but I couldn't get them to go on all the way"
- Look at slide, notice scratches all over
- Look closer at slide, realize he rolled the top lip of the front sight dovetail cut.
- Notice dovetail flat doesn't sit flat on left side of sight.
- Look even closer at Trijicon HD front sight, realize that he cranked on them so hard that it cut a groove in the dovetail base.
I can't see what it looks like under the sights but I'm afraid of what I'll find.
Is there anything I can do short of beating the life out of this gunsmith that will fix this problem?
Does Beretta sell stripped slides?
I was getting ready to send it to Robar for an Armorlube finish and Mod 5 mags. Do you think they'd be able to fix it?
I've pretty much written off the sights as a loss, but the damage to the slide cuts has me worried.
Here are some pics of his beautiful work.
When I was reading your story I was thinking in my head “I bet this guy is over reacting” then I saw the pictures. Holy crap that guy butchered your gun. Sorry about that. Don’t know the answers to any of your questions.
Replacement, standard slides (not INOX) can be had through Brownell's. Unfortunately, they cost more then the guns have cost me. (bought standard PX4 compacts for $399)
I have never had an issue with a front sight on these, however there are some threads on the back sight and on the compact, it seems more advisable to cut it. Look at the underside of the slide for bends/breaks and how do the levers flip (tell tale sign).
The slide looks refinishable to me, and if they are refinishing it, I would have Robar (or whoever) install the new sights.
I have installed several sets of Trij HDs in SIG dovetails. They all needed a bit of stoning/filing before they fit. Looks like this “gunsmith” didn’t try to fit the sight, just tried to force an oversized sight that wouldn’t fit. This isn’t a gun problem, it’s a not properly fit sight problem. I’d be pissed and want some form of compensation.
Sorry about your pistol. It’s a sad fact that many gunsmiths are hacks.
I've had two sets of sights installed in PX4 slides by LTT. The slides came back with absolutely no marring and with the sights perfectly centered. I'm about to send him a third.
I think that part of the problem is that many pistols require proprietary sight pushers to install or zero sights. For specialized gunsmiths like LTT, this isn't a problem because the investment pays off in relatively short order. For a local guy it's probably not cost-effective. A good 'smith can file/stone them to fit, while a less-than-good one just reaches for a bigger hammer.
