    Actually, I first read that expression in one of Capstick's books... Death in the Long Grass, I believe... so I suspect he stole it from Ruark.

    So while not original, it certainly fits, yes?

    One of my favorites. And being Cape Buff's are one of my favorite animals, this is perfect.

    If memory serves, Capstick attributed it to Ruark in his book.
