That Dark Star Gear's clip on holster works fantastically as it does not need a belt and is very secure. I ended up just not carrying on me at all when the swing trunks came on but my backpack was never farther than 20 feet from me when I wasn't carrying.

I wear the DSG clip on with sweats or Basketball shorts that have the draw strings and it works great.
