Bloovman put on a great two day (1,000 round) pistol class with
William Aprill June 27-28 in Palmyra PA. The class was half
lecture and half shooting. William Provided the lecture material
about Violent Criminals (including Psychopaths and Sociopaths),
their target selection, motives and suggestions for behavioral
changes you could make to reduce your chance of being selected to
be a victim of violent crime. He also had videos on sale after
the class to review the material later at home. William works in
the mental health industry and does much with with
law enforcement so his material includes both the current academic
thinking on this subject and his personal experiences, thus the
material is very practical.

The Shooting portion was run by both April and Bloovman and
included many "old favorite drills" like Dot Torture and other
drills that I have not seen including several different drills
about safety with bystanders moving around and others with
no-shoots near the target. The were also a whole series of
cadence shooting drills designed to help speed up the shooting of
close targets without sacrificing accuracy
(aimed fire at 60 BPM (one shot per second, 1 sec split), 120 BPM
and finally 240 BPM (.25 sec split) ). Found this so helpful that
I plan on incorporating cadence shooting into my dry fire
regime (Here is a free metronome which goes to 300 BPM
http://a.bestmetronome.com/). The targets were shot from
3-7 yards with a few "longer distance" 15 yard shots thrown in.
The targets were all printed on 8 1/2 inch paper and copies of the
targets were given to every student for continued work at home.

Bloovman incorporated numerous visualization and "internal mental
training" into his program. I have not seen this material
presented anywhere else though I have heard that it is very well
thought of. Bloovman has been training with some interesting
trainers and has a broad background of drill and self defense
strategies to draw from.

The course was plagued with rain and wind issues as a cold front
moved through the area. The instructors were able to adapt the
schedule to maximizes the use of the gun range without it being
unsafe or too uncomfortable, though we did shoot through the
rain all day on Saturday.
