I don't remember the name of the documentary, but it was a TV show about firearms training for some elite military unit. The guys were running some 2-gun type matches transitioning between carbine and sidearm. It looked like a good idea to me.
FWIW, I once set up some IDPA type short courses of fire (seated at a table, standing at a counter, starting in a car, etc.) for a county law enforcement agency. The guys really liked the scenarios, especially starting with their hands on the target. I don't know if it had much "tactical value" but did breathe some new life into their program.
