    I wonder if Speer has a Bell curve chart detailing recommended velocities for the GD in various calibers? Seems to me that might be useful information. Yes? No?

    A good clue is the velocities they load their projectiles to at the factory...

    That should tell you where the approximate middle of the bell curve is (or maybe just to the left of the middle) but won't tell you too much on how flat the curve is.

    From my (very non-scientific) testing, GD's are generally good to go when you add 50-100 fps (for 9 mms), but can start losing their jackets once velocities start climbing from there. I'm not sure at what velocities they become unreliable--which of course supports your implicit suggestion that it might be best to go with the factory-loaded rounds so you don't have to worry about such things.
