I've never used a holster in my kit bags but some people like to use a dummy corded trigger guard cover style holster.
I decided to pass on the Belt Pack due to the thickness and went with the thinner Runners Kit bag for now. I thought this was going to replace my Hawke Pack but it’s about as thick. I’ll probably change my mind and go with one anyways.
My 25+ year old Galco Escort is not long for this world. The only thing I'm seeing that compares to it is the Blackhawk and maybe the Zahal Marom Dolphin for the ability to rip it open one handed and it still retain the gun. Seems like everything being recommended these days are just zippered pouches with no sort of holster or ability to retain the gun.
I'm open to suggestions.
I've had decent luck with the DTOM medium suede fanny pack the last couple years. A little on the larger side but not excessively so. My main usage is hiking and the multiple pockets allow carrying a variety of things like a basic trauma kit, small flashlight, SAK, etc. Retention is just a wide elastic strap but it does fine.

Don't know if it's still true but ordering from their website was glitchy at the time. Ended up ordering off Amazon instead.
Here's a pic (minus the Swiss Champ which I forgot is on my belt right now so didn't make it in):
