    1,654 G19's and 3 G18's for Army?

    Synopsis:

    The U. S. Army Contracting Command - New Jersey, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, in support of the U.S. Army Research Development Engineering Command Armament Research Development and Engineering Center (RDECOM-ARDEC) and Several Program Offices, intends to issue a solicitation to all Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) holders to procure the following:

    1. Three (3) GLOCK 18 Systems, factory made, no aftermarket conversions accepted. *Country of origin: Austria *Caliber: 9x19mm *Condition: New Condition, manufactured within the last five years. *GLOCK 18 System consists of: *One (1) GLOCK 18 machine pistol *Six (6) magazines with seventeen (17) round capacity each (factory GLOCK only) each *One (1) operator's manual.

    2. One thousand six hundred fifty four (1654) GLOCK 19 Systems with Night Sights. *Country of origin: Austria or USA *Caliber: 9x19mm *Condition: New Production. *GLOCK 19 System consists of One (1) GLOCK 19 pistol model G19 *Six (6) magazines with fifteen (15) round capacity each (factory GLOCK only) *Self-luminous front and rear night sights (standard height).


    While the Government requirements for Quantities of each item are firm, the Government realizes that due to availability issues, Offerors may not be able to submit proposal for the full quantity requested. Please note that the Government will review submissions from Offerors which represent the best possible quantities the Offerors can obtain that do not exceed the quantities listed above and within funding limits.

    Please note that only contractors that have received previously established Basic Ordering Agreements (BOAs) under W15QKN-12-X-C003 will be issued a solicitation. If you believe you are capable of supplying the abovementioned Non-Standard Weapons (NSW), please respond to the Government's open and continuous sources sought notice, W15QKN-12-X-C003 and follow the detailed instructions. Responses to the sources sought notice will be assessed to determine the contractor's capabilities, and if determined capable, the contractor will be awarded a BOA.

    The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit under the authority of FAR 16.703. The Government expects to award a Firm Fixed Price contract to the offeror that provides the best value to the Government. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. In addition, the Government will not pay for any information provided under this notice.

    Many are already being used but these have gone mainstream with Big Army and I did not say anything was odd in the post..

    Pretty small order. I imagine these will end up arming "allied" troops much like earlier orders of Sigmas and Sig SP2022s. Look for Kurds to be sporting Glocks soon.

    And why only three? Maybe somebody added some toys to the order.

    I'd guess the G19's are for various special operations people headed overseas, or maybe some REMFs with shoulder holsters who want to look badass.
