Thread: 15/22 SBR or CMMG conversion kit?

15/22 SBR or CMMG conversion kit?

Just today got my SBR approved (WOOT!). I already have a stock 15/22 and mags. Would it make more sense to get the Better-Mag 15/22 magazine adapter for my SBR and the CMMG conversion kit or should I just SBR my 15/22?

I'd go with the kit, a $200 tax stamp on a .22 seems costy when you could combine that with the SBR you already have.

What about if I want to use a rimfire suppressor with the CMMG kit?

My TacSol upper was supposedly the best out there but wasn't nearly as reliable as my 15/22 is.

Given my options I think I would re barrel the 22 upper with a 4"(and change) barrel to keep the faster more reliable ammp subsonic and use it on my stamped lower.

Use a rounded hammer (ALG) with the 22 conversion upper. I've had 3 instances where the gun burped out a mag in a heartbeat with a notched hammer.

I have a CMMG complete upper (16") which I bought shortly before the M&P 15/22 was released. Cost is about the same Given decent quality ammo it runs 100% with both CMMG and Black Dog magazines. I haven't tried it with the Better-Mag and S&W mags yet.

    CMMG offers a 9" barrel 22LR upper.

Some people do not give sound advice in all situations!

SBR that bitch. The suppress it. You'll be $400 in taxes into a $400 gun!

Makes perfect sense in my world.

Add a $600 MRDS in a LaRue mount and BFG sling and you have effectively put lipstick on a pig.

Pretty much this. I'd SBR the 15-22, personally.
