    7.62x51 AR Rabbit Hole

Just jumped into the rabbit hole.

Traded for a Aero M5 complete lower and just got done ordering 90% of the other components to build the upper.

    Aero M5 complete lower
    Aero M5 assembled upper receiver
    Aero 308 bcg
    Aero 308 charging handle
    Aero .750 gas block
    Midlength gas tube
    Barrel dimpler
Faxon Arms 18" 1/10 twist barrel 4150 QPQ medium taper mid-gas
MI DPMS .210 15" free float rail
Brownells 308AR barrel extension torque tool

Still deciding on BUIS and what scope. I will probably use my 1-6x Bushnell Tactical until I can afford another Nightforce.

Any advice on bipods is welcome.

Atlas bipod, nothing else even comes close.

Another consideration: the classic Harris with swivel still remains supreme in the PRS circuit due to its speed to deploy.

Any idea what weight you're at? What's the envisioned role of this weapon?

No not yet. Most of the.parts for the upper should be here by friday. I'll mock it up and put it on a scale.

Longest range I have access to is 300yd on steel. I do have friends with property that out to 8-1000yds is possible but not going to be a frequent event.

As for purpose, fun gun and intro into med/long distance shooting and occasional hunt.

Will be shot suppressed with Silencer Co Omega and Specwar
    90% of the time.

Hit me up on pm defaultmp3. We where in ecqc Houston together.

Just received the MI MLOK 15" free float rail. Pretty impressed with the quality.

ETA: Tapatalk is crashing every time I try to load a pic. I will attempt later.

With an 18" barrel I'd be looking at optics with a top end in the 10-18 area. Otherwise, that weight and length is just going to waste.

I had a few things laying around I wasn't using and traded into a vortex pst 2.5-10x44 mrad. Not a nightforce but usable for the time being. If this rifle proves itself or just ducks me into the med-long range shooting fun I will definitely be purchasing a higher end nightforce with mil turrets and recticle....and a KAC to wear it.

    9.8lbs unloaded with 20rd pmag.
Atlas bipod should be here this week.
Still need a light set up and a sling.

Unfortunately the ranges near by are flooded out due to the crazy storms lately and a 25yrd indoor range just won't cut it.

    I have a SWFA 3x15 42 on my H&K MR762.
It's good enough for sub-moa targets at 900+ yards (8" steel at 900Y) and the reticle tracking and repeatability has been phenomenal, this scope punches well above its price range.
I've run the turrents up and down 15 Mil dozens of times and it's tracked back to zero every single time.

I didn't see what trigger you're using but I have a Geisselle in my H&K that's just about perfect for a DMR role.
