    Front sight fell off

How bad does this look to you guys?

Novak has agreed to take the pistol back and fix it so it shouldn't be that big of a deal and since it's going to be there, I asked them to crown the barrel and give me their reliability package (throat barrel, polish feed ramp, check/adjust extractor, check chamber & breech face dimensions, test fire for functions with factory ammo) since they were going to have the pistol anyways.

The path of least resistance will seldom get you where you need to be.

I'm no rocket surgeon but I'd think that would compromise the normal hold a dovetail slot has on the front sight. Big gaping hole under the front sight means not much friction or tension to hold the front sight in place.

If that bushing is permanent I guess one could add metal by welding up the dovetail then re-machining both the dovetail and the underside so the barrel clears the weld.

ETA - Wonder if the guy at Novak who did that still has a job?
