If you read Ben Stoeger's Skills and Drills 2 @ 25 is the first drill in his book that incorporates a timer. His commentary is that you pretty much have to everything right to successfully accomplish the drill. He goes on to say that getting A's with repeatability is GM shooting. It's definitely not an easy drill and you pretty much do have to do everything right; from a fast and efficient draw right to the spot you want to hit, proper trigger control because anything less and you miss - grip to control recoil, track the sights and trigger control again. In the book Stoeger suggests 1.3 is a good time for your first shot and to move closer if needed and move back as you improve. I've got 55 on this a few times and I would say I average 2-3 C's in the first 10 and am about 50/50 getting the upper A.

First run, Springfield Pro 1911, 230 gr FMJ @ 195 power factor:

Run 1: 1.78 seconds
Run 2: 1.61 seconds
Run 3: 1.75 seconds
Run 4: 1.67 seconds
Run 5: 1.81 seconds
Headshot: 1.98 seconds
Results: 9A, 1C (just low of A zone), 1B = 53 points.

Second Run (I tried to slow down since I had so much time to spare):
Run 1: 1.99 sec
Run 2: 1.81 sec
Run 3: 1.85 sec
Run 4: 1.88 sec
Run 5: 1.92 sec
Headshot: 2.11 sec (Does this count?)
Results: 10A (including headshot), 1C (slightly right of A zone) = 54 points

Group size was a little tighter on this run, even though the points aren't really any better (other than headshot being 1" different and counting A instead of B).

Gen3 G34 in a Keeper concealed under a polo shirt.

Shot it twice, scored for Minor.

First attempt:

1.27, .48 = 1.75 AC
1.23, .46 = 1.69 AA
1.24, .40 = 1.64 AA
1.39, .42 = 1.81 AC
1.36, .42 = 1.78 AC
1.90 upper A hit

49/55 points, pass.

2nd attempt:

1.62, .63 = 2.25 AA
1.32, .68 = 2.00 AA
1.27, .71 = 1.98 AC
1.41, .62 = 2.03 AA
1.32, .59 = 1.91 AA
1.71 upper A hit

53/55 points, pass.

Due to shooting in the rain I did not have my timer with me so I'll see about scoring this next week.

But since I train shooting to a single Alpha at 25 yards in about 2-3 seconds often; I ran this some, accelerating to shoot two in the span I'm normally shooting one. Utter train wreck.

Equipment used: G19 w/RMR06 and KKM compensator carried AIWB in a JM Custom holster from under an un-tucked long sleeve Patagonia shirt firing Fed AE9FP 147 gr FMJ on USPSA Metric targets:

1: 2.21 sec--2A
2: 1.85 sec--1A/1C
3: 2.09 sec--2A
4: 2.17 sec--1A/1C
5: 1.93 sec--2A
Headshot: 1A
Results: 9A, 2C = 51 points.

I repeated the test using the same G19, but with a standard uncompensated KKM barrel:

1: 2.52 sec--1A/1C (1 OT shot)
2: 2.50 sec--2C (1 OT shot)
3: 2.48 sec--2A (1 OT shot)
4: 2.28 sec--2C
5: 2.16 sec--2A
Headshot: 1A
Results: 6A (1 OT shot), 5C (2 OT shot) = 34 points.

Observations: Much like with the DOW 106, the compensated G19 proved both quicker and more accurate.

Didn't really need this test to convince myself I wasn't a GM, but now it's official! As I commented in DOTW 106, I've done virtually no work from the draw at 25 yards, and if it wasn't for the grace period I wouldn't have scored a single point. As it was I only got four shots within the time.

Gen 4 G34, Blade-Tech OWB

Fired all shots regardless of time as a point of reference for the future, so don't know which ones were actually within time, but had 6A, 4C, 1B in total time of 19.22. First shots were between 2.07 and 2.39, splits between .87 and 1.04.

That's pretty strong. This one became a waste of ammo for me. Consistent alphas for one shot in 2 sec is a challenge. Two in that span is way over my head at this point. I'm going to work that 25 yard BD with options to get this tightened up.
