    2.29 1A1C

    1.90 2A
    2.03 2A

    Points: 42/55, FAIL

One of the biggest and most common mistakes gun owners make is assuming that they are done learning how to shoot.

Ran this twice. I knew time would be a no go on this drill so went for trying to be smooth and accurate. So much for that. First run was cold second was after warming up. Everything was well over the 2 second par time. During the second run I think I was concentrating too much on a perfect sight picture and alignment not enough on speed.
Run 1 cold Fail, total points 24/55
    2.49, .77=3.26 M-D
    2.56, .72=3.28 A-B
    2.41, .82=3.23 C-M
    2.48, .82=3.30 C-C
    2.54, .97=3.51 A-C
    5.35 Upper A M

Run 2 warmed up Fail, total points 42/55
    3.14, 1.42=4.56 A-A
    2.86, 1.20=4.06 A-A
    2.91,1.48=4.39 A-A
    3.14, 1.53=4.76 D-C
    3.20, 1.52=4.72 A-C
    7.09 Upper A M

    Observations: My shooting sucks

Ran this with my usual gear, M&P9, Blade-Tech IDPA holster, open front concealment.

    1. 2.09, .70, 2D
    2. 2.20, .90, 1A, 1 miss
    3. 2.79, .71, 1A, 1D
    4. 2.13, .87, 2C
    5. 2.47, .78, 1C, 1D
    6. 3.33 hit

I wasn't even close on this drill, but I didn't expect to do well on it. Got a lot of work to do on my shooting.

GP Xtrim, ipsc holster. I don't have access to uspsa targets so I used an IDPA one.

Ran this as my first drill of the range visit.
    2.46
    2.18
    2.31
    2.54
    2.45
    Upper A 1.95
    3A, 4C, 2D, 2M

So a total failure. I ran it a second time with slightly better points and then spent a lot of the rest of the range session working 25yd shots.

I squeaked in a live fire session this afternoon and shot this in between dabbling with some new 147 grain loads.

    Pistol: Sig 226
    Holster: Bladetech OWB

9/10 fired within the Par + grace period

    2.21 2A
    2.10 2A
    1.98 2A
    2.10 1A/1C
    2.32 1A/second shot over time
    Headbox 1A

    48/55 points ----> Fail

Interesting test. It was a pretty tight par for me. I have a hard time being consistent from the draw to the lower A faster than about 1.3 to 1.4 at 25. And if I hit my grip well and the front sight returns perfectly, a .40 split on the second shot is pretty good for me at this distance. More often than not though, I wind up having to do a bit of steering/adjustment before breaking the second shot. On the last pair, I botched my grip slightly on the draw and had to correct. But regardless, without the grace period, I'd have failed (more) miserably.

It was a good glimpse at perhaps what a C/D class shooter might feel like shooting the Rogers test. If you're fast enough that the par is comfy for you, it's not that big a deal. If your not...it'll eat ya up.
