Thread: Travis Haley, MD-PhD

    Red face Travis Haley, MD-PhD

Recent video from Travis Haley. In the first 2 minutes he uses words/phrases:

    Acclimation
    Spatial awareness
    Isometric & isotonic pressure
    Neural muscular efficiency
    Spatial lines
    Pliability
    Neural muscular connectivity

If I was trying to explain something to someone who didn't understand a subject as well as I did, I'd probably try to use common words that they would immediately understand. Seems to be working for him, though;-)

He hopes. If he didn't no one will care though.

The neat thing about people who are actually doctors is their ability to not use those words and relay the same message. Some try to use them to enforce their message...

True story, I had a patient name her daughter Meconium because the OB doc couldn't stop using big words....

    Meconium is baby's first shit.

She named her daughter after the first shit her daughter ever took.

    😒

I tend to assume that the people watching me on the Internet realize that there's this invention called the Internet, and that on this invention you can look stuff up that you don't understand.

I CC'd this from a previous post I made last month ..... I seem to want to repeat myself a lot these days.

    gim·mick

    /ˈɡimik/

    noun

    noun: gimmick; plural noun: gimmicks

a trick or device intended to attract attention, publicity, or business.

synonyms: publicity stunt, contrivance, scheme, stratagem, ploy; informalshtick
"the trivia contest was a gimmick to sell more newspapers"

It's been the driving force behind firearms and the firearms training "business" for about 25 years now. The void of having nothing new to say has to be filled with something. I think it's referred to as the Fifth Law of Thermodynamics.

It's a shame... Haley, despite wearing white sunglasses like a douchebag, can generally relay his message pretty well without having to thesaurusize what he's trying to say.

I find your cognition regarding the practice of giving vent to loquacious tendencies to be perspicacious...peradventure among the most sagacious witticisms attendant in the Romper Room today.
