I like to make my own holster wedges so I can tailor them to my specific reality. I use minicell foam, a crosslink polyethylene material that is very durable and skin soft. I've been using the stuff for many years carving kayak and canoe seats and outfitting. I've a large box of scraps in the workshop which become holster wedges and other creations that improve the quality of life

I prefer to glue my wedges directly to the kydex using contact cement (Weldwood solvent based). Its proven to be a very durable method and can be removed with trace if desired.

This is an example of what most of my wedges look like:

I'm a 6'-2" slim fellow and this wedge works great for me. Tucks the handgun nicely. It tapers top to bottom and right to left with a soft roll. An additional benefit of a wedge is heat reduction during activity. The holster to body area gets a bit of ventilation which is definitely noticeable when hiking or paddling my canoe.

    Something like this? http://www.usafoam.com/closedcellfoa...lene-foam.html

What thickness are you using there. Looks to be about an inch?

ETA: I just measured my foam wedge. its about an inch at the thickest. I think I'm ordering a sheet of the linked material...

    I can pee outside.
In September, I ordered a KSG Sidekick from Gabe.
He built me the holster which employs the RCS wing/claw and wedge.

While the wedge works well, it is NOT as comfortable as a foam wedge [as supplied by CCC, JMC, or a neatly shaped insole].
It works well, and surely is all day comfortable, but not as comfortable as the softer foam pads.

Looks similar to the material above. Got two of these for $5 a piece at a local store, it's a hunting seat.

That one piece is for my J frame DSG holster. A lot of material for $10. Really comfortable and customizable.

    Not sure I understand?

For me, the gel pad cushions the holster and tucks the gun into my body. I think this gel pad is a very cool idea, which can work for a variety of situations, mine included.

I'm also confused. That appears to be an OWB strong side holster, not AIWB.
