I remember seeing this on Shark Tank and thinking I'd like one. I'll keep an eye out here for the group buy.

Message left. He's on the west coast. I hope to report an answer to Corlissimo and the group buy tonight.

Got the reply from Ring.com. (quoted below)

Short answer: Yes, the battery will function as a backup while the unit is hardwired to existing doorbell power.

I'm sold. As soon as I complete my upcoming move I'll most likely order a couple. Here's hoping a potential group buy comes up before then.

    Hi Steve,

Thank you for reaching out to us we truly appreciate your support!

In the event that your Ring unit stops being charged through hardwiring the battery will continue to power the Ring. Keep in mind that the Ring's battery after a full charge lasts up to 1 year with normal use.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Thanks,

He's traveling for Ring, so I hope to hear from him this weekend.

Hmm that is interesting, if I could figure out some way to hard wire it in a place without a door bell, it might be perfect for my gate.

PPGMD, I'm about to install one at my business for similar reasons.

Well if you can get it to accept the door bell transformer without a bell it wouldn't be too bad.
