So I just started watching this series on Amazon Prime and I have to say it's very good. Quite interesting seeing the Cold War through the opponent's eyes. Plus having Keri Russell as leading actress is always a good thing.
I watched the first few episodes and really thought they were well-written and -acted.
It's not exactly the early '80s I remember, but that might have something to do with my early '80s having more D&D and Mork & Mindy.
Having been born in '88, I literally have no memory of the 80s though I kinda recall my dad acting like it was a big deal when the last of the Berlin Wall came down. Now that I'm old enough to understand, I actually find the Cold War equal parts fascinating and terrifying. Makes me glad I didn't have to grow up with it though looking at the world today, having some level of predictability would be nice.
I don't watch much TV programming, but this series is excellent. I find the tension between the husband and wife spies to be as interesting as the tactics they undertake to forward their mission, as the wife is clearly far more deeply committed to the effort than he.
I'm also a big fan of the series although I've missed all 3 episodes of this season.
I was such an active participant in the '80s that I frankly don't remember much of them.
Ignore Alien Orders
It's become one of my favorite shows. Having served in the '80's it reminds me how much I miss the clarity of the Cold War.
We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again.......
I watched it a couple of times, but I kept wondering where they get their fleet of work cars, where they change into their disguises, and why no one reports them to children's services for being absentee parents. The tradecraft is fun to watch, but the rest of it's a soap opera.
As I remember the early '80's, they were more hopeful than the Carter years. After all, we beat the Russkies at hockey. Merica!
