Front sight moving in the dovetail

I painted the front sight on my H&K 45c and while applying paint, noticed the sight appears to have slight side to side movement in the dovetail.

The front sight is a Dawson tritium sight.

I briefly spoke to a gunsmith and he said thing to do is "peen down the edges of the slot with a ballpeen hammer and brass punch".

I do not speak mechanical...is this right, or should I just get a new front sight to be installed?

    Thanks.

That's common. Another approach would be to peen the sight instead and then use some wicking locktite.
    Think for yourself. Question authority.

Loctite 620. I use it on every front sight install.

This is like staking the screws on an AR-15's bolt carrier?

If LT doesn't do the trick, you could peen the underside of the sight. DO NOT peen the dovetail. That would make the Germanic gnomes cry.

This. I would never peen the slide. I'd buy a new front sight before that.

This. The front sight I put in my P30 started to move around so I took it out and peened the bottom. I reinstalled it with blue loctite and it has held for over 10K rounds.

+2 on this. Do NOT peen the slide. Two or three peens on the bottom of the sight base should do the trick and it will be permanent, unlike Loctite.
We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again.......

Basically, at the edge of the sight base, hit it with a punch till the metal bulges out for more friction points?
