I’ve got my eyes closed most of the time anyway.

I normally just fly by feel, but if I need to see something, I’ll grab the tubing up top and pull myself up a little bit. When I was in high school 20+ years ago, I spent a good bit of time learning in the back seat of a J-3 with my 6’5” dad folded up like a pocketknife up front. I could see absolutely nothing, so I’m pretty used to it.

I never flew the L1011 at a former employer. I knew plenty that did. The L1011 was famous for the lower galley that was accessible via a small elevator.

    That is all.

Same - lots of stories of what allegedly went on down there.

I know each airline can specify their configuration, but aren't the seats on the 787 electric? The ones on the 75/76 moved pretty slow...

They’re electric as far as I know. They move slowly because...well that’s what you want them to do.

“There’s a circuit breaker tripped on the oven. Can you come down and look?” They used to hang one of those plastic “Do Not Disturb” signs from hotels back in the day on the upstairs elevator access door. That was the signal that the lower galley was “in use”.

It used to get warm down there too with the ovens going. Not uncommon for the FAs to be down to their underwear with a pair of flip flops preparing the chicken with the painted-on grill marks...

    Bon apetit! Lol

Oh man. Back in the days when there was actual food on airplanes!

    That takes me back!
