    Movember Classic Charity Match 2016

The November Charity Match run by the DownZero crew is a yearly match to promote the awareness of Prostate Cancer. They combine the USPSA stage design principles but with IDPA scoring. It's a fun match for a good cause. If you're male above the age of 40, go get a yearly exam and start tracking your PSA levels. Early detection is the key to survival.

As for my match performance, well, watch the video. Some mistakes here and there but the biggest match breaker for me was my death jam on Stage 5. Sucks when a stuck case comes visiting. That's my 3rd stuck case in my years of shooting.

Paul Bunyan Toys-4-Tots Charity Outlaw Match

Paul Bunyan Rifle Club ran their annual Toys-4-Tots charity match again this Sunday. It is an outlaw USPSA-styled match that raised $1,300 in cash for kids. Always great to be out shooting for a good cause.

Hey Robot, I shot that Movember Match also! Great fun and a great cause! Dave and Allen really put on a good show! That was my first and only non-IDPA match. That 'Stage 2 - V For Victory' course was quite a test for a 1911 guy with 8 round magazines! You friggin' killed that stage! As well as the rest! Nice work!

NICE!! Glad you had fun shooting that match. I shoot it every year because it supports a really important cause. Hope to see you on the range sometime soon.

Paul Bunyan USPSA 2017 Winter Wonderland

My first USPSA match of 2017 after a looooong break of no shooting and no dry-firing. Was super cold, super wet and one of those matches that kept everyone asking why they're out there feeling miserable. That said, there were some really fun stages including one that had all 1/3 sized targets, now that it is legal to use in Level One matches. Those are hard to shoot at! Thanks again to the PB crew for keeping the range open throughout winter.

Got a GoPro so this is my first test run using it. Decent quality but a bit too shaky for my tastes.

    2/7 SSP
    4/21 Overall

Too many mistakes made overall and at least one on each stage.

Stage 1: Engaged T1 stationary when I was supposed to be moving and fumbled the reload from P2 to P3.
Stage 2: Had to make up shots on 2nd to last target and overshot a position causing me to lose my balance and time.
Stage 3: Fumbled reload and dropped two points that I should've had as Down 0.

Taking the holidays off from shooting really showed how rusty I am.

Our weekly league night this week was on Valentines Day so we themed everything towards that with chocolate prizes based on performance. With half our usual crowd because of the holiday, we were able to get more stages in than normal. Ended up taking 2nd Overall and SSP.

Wilson Combat/Beretta 92G Brigadier Tactical wearing custom LOK Grips

    Performance notes:
-Dropped at least a point on each stage costing me first.
-Final time was just 1.4 seconds behind 1st place.

@0:18 - I slipped on a brass casing on the floor but recovered and didn't wipe out. Forgot to chamber a round which cost me more time.

@1:41 - Slide didn't lock back again on last round. Must practice draws to get a consistent grip that allows the slide to lock back.

@2:03 - Instead of doing a static reload at P2, I did a tac load on the move between P1 and P2 by dropping the partially used magazine into my pocket. This is how I was able to get a stage win.

Not me in the video, forgot to take my GoPro

Local variant of IDPA (best way to describe in short), most significant difference being that the situations are a secret. You know story, if there are any restrictions (ie SHO, WHO, etc), but nothing more (except for really novice 101/practice competitions).

@1:34 - there was a hostage steel target, he hit the hostage, causing the head to turn, got him confused.
@1:58 - the target had a bulletproof vest drawn, hit of that was a miss
