Had a pretty solid day all around with the exception of not giving the proper respect to an activator on stage 1. A lot of close fast stages with some planning options. Overall it was a fun day.

    IDPA CO & ESP comparison

Cold rainy IDPA match. I shot Shadow2s in CO and ESP. Interesting to compare the times and scores. My total score in CO was 4% faster than ESP, and down 9 vs down 11.

Lots of aggression required for this one, but the last 2 positions were tricky.

I shot the poppers on entry, while most shot them on exit, and last. I liked my way better.

I was "deployed" for the last month, and it's been just over 6 weeks since I last shot a gun and competed. I ran my ACW Quantico 9mm in L10 yesterday (doesn't make single stack weight with the weapon light). I haven't competed in USPSA with an irons gun since Feb 2023, so I thought this would be fun to go into a match cold especially with a little bit of time off from shooting. I only have vid of my last stage. Ended up 6/40 on this stage and it was easily my best stage. Simple stage design, but it was fun. I had a rough start to the day, but things cleaned up decently after each subsequent stage.

The only thing I probably would have changed was conducting my second reload during the run up to the final array. I had enough in the mag for the runway array on the right and the transition to the two targets on the left.

Multi-gun match from this past Saturday

Shooters needed to start with shoulders or stomach on the rug and engage the first array through the low port. My setup, while it looks awkward, was the fastest off the ground after engaging the targets through the low port. I may be middle-aged, but I'm in good shape and I can move pretty well. PCC is a B&T GHM9 and pistol is an ACW Quantico .45 ACP single-stack. Some trigger freeze on the second-to-last pistol target.

Same firearms for the second stage. 4 rounds required on the static steel for a total of 10 rounds for pistol. It forced me to slide-lock reload.

Stage 3 I switched out the Quantico .45 for my Noveske/Glock 17. I threw that first pistol shot to the left of the steel, and you can see the ricochet off the ground and in to the back berm. I spent time fishing for the dot initially. The "rifle" shooting area had a purposely obscured shooting barrier. We used the same barrier at last month's USPSA match. You can see through it, but it's tough. There are 2 small steel poppers about 45 yards downrange that were supposed to be engaged through the barrier along with the paper targets. Some folks forgot about it and used their pistol to engage them from the pistol shooting area, since there were visible from there. I RO'd most of the squad and decided it wasn't really an advantage either way, so I engaged them with the GHM9 with no problems through the barrier.

I reshot the first stage for fun. I told everyone I'd bunny hop out of the starting position this time, and I used the Noveske/Glock 17 as well. They had already removed one of the paper targets designated for pistol, so I elected to add 2 rounds to the other paper target that was adjacent to it.

Last vid is still the reshoot, but one of the guys brought out their drone. Needs to work on his tracking skills, but still cool nonetheless. No audio.

Nice! There aren't many men with that much flexibility, regardless of age.
