Rifles built on non-Ruger, aftermarket 10/22 receivers.

Just did a search for "BRN-22" and got zero hits. How is that possible? I figure we need a thread for talking about aftermarket receiver builds in 10/22 format. Because who wants to wade through a week of rabbit holes at RFC?

Question that prompted this thinking: Has Brownells unf'ed themselves with regard to BRN-22 quality issues yet?

Not exactly a 10/22 clone, but I own a Magnum Research (MR) 77/22 in .22 WMR. It differes from their 22LR version because it has a larger bolt and uses a gas system to handle the magnum round. It’s definitely a nice piece. MR makes it in .22LR as well and I’m sure it is more of a 10/22 clone.

MR machines their own bolts and receivers, but use Ruger mags. I think they also use Ruger trigger assemblies. I dropped in a Ruger BX trigger into my magnum and it worked fine. They also use their own barrels. My rifle came with their carbon fiber wrapped bull barrel.

If I were in the market, I’d give a hard look at the Thompson T/C22

    Has S&W un-f'ed itself since 2018?

I was more thinking about the way I build ARs. Picking out quality parts to put together a rifle with all the features I want at the best price I can figure out, without having to buy something and upgrade it and throw away a bunch of parts.

I SBR'ed a Kidd receiver awhile back. I figured I might as well do as nice a receiver as I could since I'll be stuck with it. No complaints. The Enoch Deep Six chassis and Midwest Industries folding stock are the third or fourth stock I've had for it, and I think I'm finally happy with this one.

I have a KIDD 10/22 that I have a TacSol SBX (I think) barrel on it. It is a 12 inch barrel with a 4 inch cage that goes over my suppressor. I have been using it for pest duty in the yard.

Are they even selling them anymore? I thought they blew them out on clearance a year or two ago,

Hmmm, I didn’t need to know that.

Brownells didn’t send me an email. I feel so left out…

Jeez, I've just stood on the edge and looked down into the rabbit hole. A person could get sucked in and spend a lot of money down there.
