So if I plan to get standard 147 should I get the +p 147 for now?
This also raises the question, if you decide to stay with 124 grain, whether there is really any advantage of HST 124 +P over Gold Dot 124 +P? In other words, should you change ammo at all? My impression is that the GD and HST 124 +P rounds perform fairly much the same, but there are others on here far better qualified to express an opinion on that and I'd personally welcome their input.

True but if both rounds are +p recoil should be close to a wash.

If I were the one deciding, I'd stick with the existing 124gr + P Gold Dot, unless running low and it needed to be replaced. HST is great too, and if that's what I already had, I'd stick with it.

Are you saying the 9mm 147gr HST is equal to 40S&W 180gr HST.

Although I carry a 9mm also I do know the 40cal has better performance.

Take for instance ATK own gel testing of the 9mm HST loads 124,124+P and 147gr all failed the AG test. BTW the 180gr HST passed the AG test
Also both 124 and 124+p failed the BG test. And the 147gr HST passed the BG test by penetrating just the min 12inches

Main reason I wanted to switch back to 9mm was because of the less recoil. The bad thing is that my P30S 9mm /147gr has more Impulse than my 40cal P229 /180gr

    BTW OP

In my P30S 9mm I prefer the 124gr standard pressure loads and the 124gr +P loads that are listed at 1180fps.
I don't like the 147gr impulse in my P30S. Plus the 124gr have more slide velocity . which I think helps improve feeding.

The 147gr. HST compares favorably with the 180gr. HST according to Federal.

The 147gr. HST Gel 12", Heavy Cloth 12.5", Steel 17.5", Wall Board 13.25", Plywood 15", Safety Glass 11".
The 180gr. HST Gel 12", Heavy Cloth 12.5", Steel 11", Wall Board 12", Plywood 13", Safety Glass 14".

I picked up 2 boxes of the 147+p today. I think the +p should help with the 3.5 inch glock 26 barrel.

The 147gr.+P from a G26 should be comparable in velocity to the 147gr. from a G17.

That is good to know. If this is true I think I made the right choice.

Isn't 12 inches in gel the absolute minimum for the FBI protocol? I don't understand why the HST's are so highly regarded if they barely make the minimum.

    Sorry for the thread drift.
