    Weakness? Maybe. But since I was involved in documenting a massive steel truss failure due to thread failure, I don't put a lot of stock in screws in that location either.

    I can't say which is stronger, but I can say it doesn't give me any cause for concern or discomfort. I realize that everyone is trying to bomb-proof everything, and everyone claims to be "hard on gear", but I just don't see this as an issue.

    If your going to go non QD, why not just go with a set of quality rings?

    No cantilever and they are heavier than an AP mount.

    Exactly. I'm not putting a ring on a handguard.

    Nor would I suggest putting a ring on a hand guard unless it was a continuous rail like a SCAR or 6940 etc etc. Some scopes you can get away without the cantilever. Another option is a single thick ring if the scope is strong enough. I have this setup with a US Optics 1.5-6. Ill see if I can scare up a pic when I have a minute.
