Thread: Looking for a particular kydex holster

Looking for a particular kydex holster

I am looking for a vertical kydex holster for a G17, with these specific requirements....

    1. Straight drop scabbard style (not the pancake styles that are more popular today)
    2. 1.5" belt loops that are permanently fixed to the holster body (no adjustable removable clips, wings, etc).
    3. Speed cut where the entire ejection port is exposed.
    4. IDPA legal
    5. Prefer it to be all kydex...no suede or leather lining inside.

A good example would be the old Comp-tac belt holster, or the classic ones Blade-tech used to offer. Unfortunately, Comp-tac has gone to the International model which allows for various attachment methods which I do not want. Same goes for blade tech.

If you've ever seen Ron Avery's video on the draw stroke, he uses something that I would like...

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Ready tacticsl makes a holster very similar to the old Comp TAC belt holster. Sold by SKD and CPWSA

Thanks. I saw that, but does it only come with 1.75" belt loops?

Eta: I'm also mourning the passing of the comp TAC holster. Definitely my preferred style in a competition rig. Much lower profile than all of the pancake rigs.

Not sure you're gonna find many options but Dale Fricke, I believe, has been making holsters long enough to have been in that time and his Gideon Elite seems to fit the bill, except the loop is not built in.

Peters Custom Holsters did some of that style for a friend a while back, perhaps they can make another.

Ultimately though I would question the desire for the integral loop.

What pancake holsters are you using that are not lower profile than the holster style mentioned above?
    Think for yourself. Question authority.

I've been using the A10 and mag pouches from Talon Tactical for my gen4 G17 all year. Belt loops are 1.5" and integrally molded.

I should clarify that I'm referring to width, not thickness. The excess material with the belt loops spaced in front of and behind the gun tends to block access to my front pocket. My only experience has been with a local guy and DSG arms.

I haven't tried a Dark Star pancake. I'd like to at some point but I can't figure out when I'd use it: Owb is competition only for me. Everything else is AIWB.

Ahh, makes more sense. I hate that as well. Kinda sorta how I kinda sorta got suckered into turning my dungeon into a kydex dungeon. Mine are narrower but not as narrow as the OWB competition style. I use a Comp-Tac International for games. Just makes the most sense.

I've got a ready tactical holster for my 686SSR I use for USPSA/NRA Action Pistol. Good holster. Back when I made my own kydex, I preferred to make the scabbard style. Still my preference for carry when I OWB and don't use an ALS holster. Nowadays, that usually means a gun game.

I have thought about trying one of these: http://www.jmcustomkydex.com/p/OWB-V2.html

Kinda combine both designs. I tried to make a design like this but was never happy with it. Tony's design looks much superior to what I came up with.
