Goddamn that was a depressing book. Much darker than the First Law trilogy, or more accurately, all the darkness of that trilogy with almost none of the hope that sprinkled it. Still very well written and engaging.

    Starting "The Heroes" now.

Thank you for that. I read it decades ago, I've wanted to read it.

I just finished listening to Mythos, by Stephen Fry, also narrated by him. It's a pretty basic but well read story of the Greek gods. Just started listening to Heroes by the same author.

I’ve read that, maybe 20 years ago but it left an impression.

I just finished Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins. I enjoyed it.

I stopped in the middle of Range by David Epstein to read the Goggins book. Range is really excellent, and I'm looking forward to finishing it. Range is listed under "sports psychology," which is not a genre that I typically read. I think that Amazon suggested it to me because I like to browse for range bags. In any case, I think pigeon holing the book in sports psychology, is doing it a disservice as it has much wider applicability.

Next up is Running and Being by George Sheehan.

One of these days, Fry will finally succeed at killing himself. It should be educational.

I've read that a couple of times. It's a good read, and a lot of it resonates with me. There's a small amount of mild weirdness, such as his belief that body type determines one's personality, but that's easily overlooked. You'll enjoy it.

"Range" as sports psychology? That's a wrong classification IMHO. It gave me a different take on people who move from job to job all the time in their early years. I thought it was a very informative book. The author could have made the key points in a shorter book but the supporting material was fascinating in it's own right. It's worth reading.
