And for some reason the ripe off the vine 'maters are particularity tasty this year. I get spoiled in the summer, come winter and all there is are store bought tomatoes I can't hardly eat them, taste like plastic.

It's because the growers pick 'em when they're unripe and use ethelyne gas to give them their red color. Helps with shipping but does nothing for the taste. Canned tomatoes are mo' better than supermarket tomatoes if that's all you can get, all the way.
