If you order a JM, go ahead and order an extra belt loop to experiment with high vs. standard ride height. I currently carry my G19 in a G17 sized JM AIWB holster with the extra tuck ; the little extra length is nice for preventing the holster from "rolling over" my beltline. It's also convenient because I have a G17 as well so...

Height has a lot to do with comfort. Pants to pants fit does too. Dad jeans fit differently than hipster jeans or dockers.

I too went the cheap way into AIWB and am regretting it. I was duped by the low price, fast turn around and got a straight drop IWB holster labeled as AIWB. Pretty darn uncomfortable. I tried foam pads and stuff like that but nothing helped. I am saving up for a JMCK AIWB for my G19 and 1911 Commander. I wouldn't mind seeing some examples of the Dark Star AIWB.
