IT people tend to use their brains and analytical skills. Or rather, we do if we're any good.

IT and other office types are usually stuck on a computer all day at somewhat dull jobs that give them enough disposable income to support their hobbies. I'd bet they're a big percentage of just about any forum on any subject out there.

Good for the white hats, it's nice to see someone out there is fighting the good fight.

My job's very dull... until it gets very exciting. Thus is the world of IT.

I dunno, for every "OMG! We accidentally deleted all our data and we need the DB restored right now!", I probably get a couple hundred "Hey, my query is slow, can you look at it?". 9 times out of 10, it's because the user doesn't know how to write SQL. Apparently they don't teach 'Cartesian merge joins are bad, mmmkay?' in Developer 101.

Well, I'll just speak for myself then .

All I know is OUR IT guy must be bored silly.

Serious question from one of our senior guys: "Can I get the internet on this thing?" Meaning his iPhone.

Pretty sure 99% of our IT peepz' work is resetting passwords, because work requires everyone to have a work email, even the mass amount of people who don't use email or have a work-station (at least 1/4 out of 4000 employees). Of course, it wouldn't be as bad if they didn't automatically lock people out of their accounts due to inactivity....because their work doesn't entail using a workstation/work email. Vicious cycle.

Thus, I give them a pass as to why they suck and are miserable human beings I feel should be fed to the combat cats in the parking lot. If I had to put up with the non-sensical crap they do, I'd be a troll too.
