    Colt National Match

This just arrived via the big brown truck less than an hour ago. Built on a 1964 National Match. In my opinion, these (along with other Commercial Models) were Colt's best work. I found the gun at an auction in CA, and submitted my winning bid online. It already had the beavertail installed, and the trigger and hammer swapped out. It also had a matte blue finish, nowhere near showing off the finish that were supplied on colts of this era. It was otherwise stock.

Greg Derr in MA graciously accepted to perform work on this previously modified pistol. Many smiths do not want to work on someone else's shoddy craftsmanship, but he deemed the work to be satisfactory, and began on the things I wanted done: Dovetail front sight, new thumb safety, new bushing and plug, bevel magazine well, bevel the bottom of the slide, clean up the MSH,and new Koa grips. A dehorn and general touch up were also performed

I can't be more happy the way this turned out. I know many purists will cry and moan that I cut up a fairly desirable Colt, but how many NM's can you say are suited for EDC as this one now is? I'm not a bullseye shooter. I just want all my pistols to be 100% usable, and to do it with class.

Hat's off to Mr. Derr. I couldn't be more pleased.

I think it's beautiful! May it bring you many years of happiness and enjoyment.

A long time ago, I had a koa wood acoustic guitar, it sounded amazing. Love them grips.

Every time a really nice blue is restored to a Colt, St. JMB makes a little gun angel.

Stupid question, but is that a C&R eligible handgun?
