Like most everyone, I have had to switch powders and am interested in new recipes for reloading. I plan to use IMR 700x for .45's, and Titegroup for .38's. I know where to find the "book" solutions, but I would appreciate any tried and proven recommendations??Thanks.
For 38spl I like the bullseye 2.7gr + 148gr HBWC. I didn't reload when I carried a 1911 but a lot of friends use bullseye.
I like it for its accuracy plus it meters well in my SD press
I swear the 38spl load above is one of themost accurate loads one could get.
Currently I'm experimenting with 4.0gr 700x under a 125gr Berry's plated, in misc brass with Remington primers. Shoots soft from my J frame, but need to do accuracy testing with it in the K frame.
Out of necessity, I'm burning a lot of Ramshot Competition these days. I found two 1 lb canisters at a gun show. Loaded it up with 200 gr SWC's (4.1 grs). Nice, clean easy shootin' load. Meters well too. Bought several 8 lb. kegs after that.
I prefer Winchester Super Target, but haven't seen that anywhere for a coon's age.
Win 231 is scarce too.

700X is a good .45ACP powder, but IIRC its on the expensive side as compared to more modern ball powders. Of course, if its what you have , go for it. The "powder shortage" has never really gone away, despite the opinions of some.

3.6 grains of WST is my .38 practice load with a Georgia Arms 158 grain SWC bullet. Shoots acceptably well up to thirty feet out of my 442-2. WST is all I could find in 2013 when I lucked into a 4 lb jug of it at a backwoods LGS. Have about a pound left and have used it for 9mm, .40, .45 ACP, .38 special, and light .44 magnum loads.
Next project will be working up loads for all of the above using BE-86.
