Thread: Scarcity of .45 acp

    Scarcity of .45 acp

Trying to find .45acp of the accepted defensive brands is killing me. There are basically none to buy from the retail stores in my area and "backordered" or "out of stock" seems to be the phrases du joure on many of the websites I visit.

Any advice on sites I might visit to procure the above would be appreciated.

Rains have you tried all of the local pawn shops? most of them are thinly veiled gun shops around here. Two of the best places I know to find defense ammo are pawn shops, one is the best place in north Georgia to put your hands on carbines and other defensive weapons. The actual gun shops and ranges all seem to be sold out most of the time or have a pitiful selection and want 2-3x the going rate for carry ammo.

Ok first of all I want to thank everyone who posted in this thread. I knew about some of these and some of these I didn't. I also figured I would post what I have discovered accidentally perusing some of the other threads in the forum.

Most of the credit goes to JV from this post:

After that and a little investigation on my own it appears that the best(most affordable/available) way to buy is in the 50 rnd boxes that are apparently most sold to LE, but if you use what I believe are LE codes in google you can find the retailers that sell them that way. These are the codes as well as I was able to figure.

    Winchester Ranger T's - RA45T
    Federal HST's - P45HST1
    Speer Gold Dot's - "speer" 53966
    Remington Golden Saber(25 rnd box) - GS45APB

Note that the code for Gold Dot's is just the 53966, but I had the most luck at finding them if I typed in "speer" as well as the code. Also note that the Golden Sabers that I found only came in 25 round boxes and were the most expensive. Also these the codes for the 230 grain variety, but by using these searches and finding the websites you can navigate to a more preferred variety if they have it.

This is just what I have worked out on my own, if anyone has better knowledge of this feel free to correct me or add to what I posted.

    Again thanks all.

    RCBS?

    Dillon? Hornaday?
I've reloaded 7K .45 ACP. And with the money I saved, I reloaded some more.

So Rains, had this thread helped you? Have you bought any ammo yet?

    How about an update?
