Recently I decided to do a little test to see how much an elevated heart rate would affect my performance during shooting sessions. I shoot mostly in a local National Forest so I don't have to abide by any range safety rules per say...with that said, I was practicing some slow fire 25 yard work and decided to put my handgun on the tailgate, do 25 burpees, and resume shooting. Not surprisingly, it was much harder to keep my heart rate and breathing from influencing my shooting. I was wondering if any of you incorporate any kind of physiological stressors into your training, such as an elevated heart rate, etc. I think I will do more of this type of shooting and incorporate it into some of my regular drills (Bill Drill, El Prez, 1-5, etc.). FWIW, I don't notice my respiratory rate changing much during local USPSA and 3-Gun matches.
And no, I don't plan on putting a plastic bag over my head like Instructor Zero
