    Grip and finger positioning.

What is the origin and importance of the "straight line" grip on a pistol? With my hand size/finger length on a Glock, I find that I can much more accurately manipulate the trigger straight to the rear by rotating my hand slightly, putting more finger on the trigger. However, that puts the pistol more in-line with my bottom thumb joint than directly in-line with my wrist/forearm. What are the issues with doing this and is it worth the tradeoff?

Origin, I believe to be in one-handed bullseye.
Getting the backstrap in the web does help prevent thumb knuckle impact with the tang, but does not need to be a straight line with the arm.

The most important things are trigger finger placement, solid grip, and not hurting your thumb during extended firing.
