Thread: Thyrm switchback / chris costa flashlight ring

From: http://thyrm.com/product/switchback-backup/ "...for SureFire Backup tactical momentary switch only; NOT compatible with clicking tail caps..." ; the Large doesn't have such a disclaimer http://thyrm.com/product/switchback-large/

Does anyone have an idea why that is the case? Best I can figure, the interior retaining lip might be sufficient to displace the back-cap into "storage\off" mode, but it's all hypothesis.

I've used one since they were released last year with good results. I was not expecting much out of it at first. I like them.

Same, I took it off and missed it right away.

Grabbed a few of these on minor sale, and confirmed my hypothesis: the retaining ledge that shims between the tailcap and battery housing is thick enough to impede the tailcap engaging enough for activation. Hacked it out and sanded it down, and it worked well enough, minus shifting about. Some shrinktubing or wraps of painter's tape ought to keep it out. As far as replacing the custom webbing wrap and o-ring; I like that it presents itself for insertion more prominently, though I have some reservations towards it as I always do with rigid rings threaded over fingers.

    I'll do some more modding.

I grabbed one of these at a Costa Ludus HE1 class. I am still evaluating it, learning how to best employ it. So far I have an issue getting orientated with the axis of my barrel when grabbing it under stress while drawing. I think I can remedy this with time and repetition.

Using more thumb on the switch back fixed it for me
