All from practice today. Focusing on timed fire since my last rapid session went poorly… haven’t been doing too much livefire over the winter and it was obvious that I needed to rebuild some fundamentals before the season.

10 shots, 25 yards. One handed.

Buckmark Camper with a TRS25 and a Gearbox sear spring. Not a typical match gun for me—I shoot metallic sights for outdoor conventional. Planning on doing an couple indoor 900s this year.

Marvel Unit 1 heavy rib on a dedicated frame. Another hundred, but definitely not the same X count. Metallic sights.

A 98 from the backup ballgun. Not thrilled with the low-left stringing, but that’s what happens when you have a Service Pistol legal trigger and poor discipline.

    Damned impressive shooting one handed.

Would you say you do the majority of your practice with a rimfire?

My shooting is 50% .45, 25% .22, and 25% .38 Special (I carry a revolver). I dryfire consistently and shoot air pistol in my attic a couple times a week.

I reload and buy components in bulk out of necessity.

The .45 is two-thirds of a 2700 course of fire, has the heavier trigger, and recoils the most. Stepping down to rimfire after practicing mainly centerfire is easier than doing the reverse. It’s too easy to get accustomed to the gun with the more forgiving trigger and recoil impulse… you can be lax with your hold and still shoot 10s and 9s all day.

Since cataract surgery on both eyes a couple/three years ago I've got hawk distance acuity and a hot mess front sight so I've been working on target focused shooting irons with good results at 7 or 10 or 15 on drills, good hits to the A zone on the timer at 25 but slowfire precision at 25 took a dump.

Now bringing up the rear in the RDS party, I'm having a ball. I've found target focus with the dot to come quick and easily, maybe aided by a couple of years of giving up on the front sight.

So this is two warmup groups of 5 Sunday from 25. Saw and called the flyer so marked which was the 2nd shot of the 2nd string of 5. The hits marked with the slash are the first, the circled hits the second.

@GJM re hand cycled first shots, I marked two hand cycled 1st shots with a "1". The low hit was my first shot of the warmup, so I don't put much in that. The first shot of the 2nd string of five hit center. Not a lot of data points but FWIW as we discussed.

A PR by a huge margin regardless of what pistol. Dang these fancy sighting things are incredible.

97-4X. One of those targets where the gunhandling and return to POA just “clicked” during rapid fire practice. I was averaging low 90s with one or two 8s per target.

Despite having collected a bunch of Colt’s, I am converting all my revolver bullseye gear over to K-frames. Hammer throw is shorter and faster. Triggers are superior. Thumbcocking is less ergonomic and requires more force, and the factory sights are worse than the old Elliason sights available on some of the Colt’s match revolvers, but the targets don’t lie.

I've had this G45 since the first year of release and I'm guessing I haven't put more than 500 rounds through it. It has always shot to the left for me despite trying different grips and trigger presses and I finally decided to drift the sights last week.

These were shot cold. I started at 15 yards and shot the group labeled #1.

As you can see it's a little low and to the left. I drifted the factory plastic rear sight to the right then shot another 10 rounds at group #2.

I drifted a tad too much to the right so I backed it off to the left a little bit and shot 5 rounds at the top target to verify.

I finished the session at 25 yards and got a 95-2X.

So I realize what you are looking at isn't that impressive, but for this gun that has been so inaccurate for me this is pretty good for 5 FS, 5 SHO, and 5 WHO. You can see a couple flyers from the one handed strings but all 5 of the FS were in the black, which I reiterate is pretty good for this crappy Legion X-Carry.

I sold my HK VP9 Tactical OR with a Holosun 507K and shot it for the last time today. Cold at 25 yards. No doubt that the VP9 is very accurate but I just prefer the grip of the G45. It might have something to do with the hump on the back.
