I seem to be able to more consistently tighten up groups at this distance. I had an “ah-ha” moment where when I had a hard front sight focus and observed the sights while subconsciously working the trigger I was able to tighten things up. The tricky part was I was having a hard time maintaining that hard focus instead of slipping back into an intermediate focus or target focus. Is this a function of just me getting older and having a more difficult time focusing on the front sight or would something like using bigger sights help with this?

Currently have Dawson Adjustables installed (green fiber front, blacked out rear). Default dimensions.

@spinmove_, I wouldn’t recommend bigger sights. Have you tried different fiber colors?

Well it's obvious you can do it but a few questions...

    - How long are you staying on the sights for each shot? Is this slow fire, one at time rest or a string of fire?

    - Have anymore details on those Dawson sights like notch width, front post width?

The fiber is easy to see and I greatly prefer Green over Red as it blooms nowhere near as much for my vision. When I go to get a hard front sight focus I get enough focus to clearly see the serrations in the front sight.

It’s a string of fire and I’m not wasting too much time between shots. I couldn’t use a timer that session as there were too many other shooters on the line at that indoor range. The light sucks in there too.

    It’s a 0.100” wide front sight with a 0.125” wide rear notch.

Yeah from the photo, it looks hidden in the shadows. I'd bring it in a bit closer where it is well lit just to see if it makes a difference.

Regarding sights, I use a Dawson set with green front, wide rear notch and thin front (like yours). It helps me by allowing me to see more light on either side. I need this as I wear bi-focals. Plus, at my indoor range, the FO front doesn't light up like it does outside so I basically just see a typical iron sight picture.

I suppose you could try it with a WML...

ETA--Sorry, just realized the "photo" of the range wasn't yours!

So.....junior and I were at the local Cabelas and he found his dream pistol in the "library". We asked to look at it and it was mint. 629.10 out the door.

And of course, junior looks at me and asks "Can I borrow some ammo? "

So I said "sure, but I get to see what it does at 25y first". 92-0X cold with pistol in single action mode.

Front sight is just a hair off. Correcting that after work. I wanted another crack at it but he took it from me and started slinging brass everywhere.....since it's OPA (other people's ammo).
