I start with a 1" square freestyle at 7yds. That'll help you get most of the slop out before you introduce the vision issues of 25yds. I do also zero freestyle at 25yds, but honestly if you're struggling to keep things inside 2" at 7yds (1" is better) then it'll be a better investment of your time to clean that up first, which will translate to better groups at 25.

Figured it was the time to teach my kids to shoot, so that gave me the excuse to buy a .22 pistol. Zeroed today with an Aimpoint TL I had lying around. Target was at 25 yards freestyle unsupported with CCI Standard Velocity.

Gen 3 Glock 19 with 10-8 sights and a vickers flat trigger which has really helped center my groups for me.

1 shot from my first "all in the black" performance instead of a 97. 115 grain Aguila FMJ. If I wasn't probably upgrading to an RDO gun soon I'd put a bar sto barrel in this thing.

Started to get some fatigue, sweat in the eyes, in the second group which really brought me back to reality. It was also pretty bright out (sun to the left and that target was above the previous one. So I think the sun pulled my shots left a bit too.

Really have been super impressed and happy with this G19, the only complaint is occasional brass to the face. Vickers slide release, mag release, and trigger shoe. Cominolli safety has been 100% reliable and really nice for AIWB. I'd get a glock Gen 5 if they produced a safety that fit it. Almost tempted to get a red dot slide and just put it on this frame...but I can treat myself. Looking at 320, M&P 2.0, or HK P2000

The POI for me with the factory irons was a few inches high at 25 yards. A few inches more than I preferred for this Dave Sams accurized laser. Now with Kensight adjustables and back to a medium trigger (both courtesy of Derr Precision of Greg Derr fame) I dialed it in more to my liking.

POI was the bottom seam of the eyebox. Ammo was Tula 115 gr FMJ

Making some progress with a 95-2X with AE 115 Range ammo. Been focusing on a strong support hand grip lately, seems to be helping.

These Heinie MOS sights hit pretty high. This is with a 6:00 hold on the black at 25yds. Not un-doable, but not my preference. Oh well, that's why they're backups right?

Also interesting to note the zero differences in different ammo. First is 124 Federal AE and Second is my carry ammo, Speer Gold Dot 124 +P

Still working support hand grip. Spent today at the square range with the G19 MOS carry gun.

I noticed that my groups were printing high at 25, so for the fourth try (I was getting pretty tired by this point) I moved POA down to the bottom of the black B-8 circle. I also switched to a pin and reset on the trigger. A 92-0X is a personal best with the G19. I'll need to tweak the elevation of the Holosun slightly, I reckon, but the gun is functioning well. 479 mixed rounds of ball and hollow point ammo since purchase in July, all with zero malfunctions.

It's weird what you stumble upon, and when.

This change in grip technique has had the absolute biggest impact on my static accuracy, literally, that I've ever had. It has seemingly addressed my "why do I shoot low and right (lefty)" question that I started with in 2014.

Continuing to make progress on this front. Still tend to get 1-2 7/8 ring misses but consistently have been able to keep most in the black. Started today with a couple untimed B-8s followed by this on the timer.

    "Cowboy Hat Qual

@defoorproformanceshooting has a standard he pushes. Its a great measure of a shooters skill for precision shots from a pistol. It’s 10 rounds on the buzzer shot on a B8 at 25yds. You must/strive to score a 90 or better, and you must do it in 20 seconds or less.
    .
After doing that countless times I got to the point where I was regularly scoring high 90’s or Hundos, or could break into 90 regularly under 6 seconds. So this day, I decided to make it harder. I moved the B8 to 50YDS. My intent was to
try for a 90< in less than 15 seconds. The @nighthawkcustom didn’t disappoint.
    .
Also, unless you have video evidence otherwise, I’m gonna go ahead and call this the Cowboy Hat Qual world record run. Cause I ain’t never seent it before. And that’s all I got to say about that."

EDIT - that ain't me, just sharing as it is fantastic shooting in the vein of this thread.
