Thread: Freestyle shooting at 25 yds revisited

  1. #361
Where were these shot? Indoor range or outdoor? How was the lighting?

    Do you wear corrective lenses?

If not, do you think you might need them?

IMHO, you are having trouble making out the target clearly at that distance since you have no problem closer in.

10 Rounds, slow fire from 25 yards; 99-7x.
Very nice shooting. Where is your POA for that group? POI or 6 o'clock?

I hear you on the flyer. It happens to me every time. Just once I want to shoot a 100.

It shoots 1" high at 25 yards. I basically hold between the X and 10-rings.

I don't think I've posted about this in the thread...

Earlier this year I patiently waited my turn for the G&R fitted Storm Lake barrel for my April of 2011 M&P. I've since received it but have yet to see how it shoots vs my OEM barrel. I'll be going out on Saturday and hopefully I'll be having an "on" day so I get some good groups.

    If not me, then who?

My most consistent group to date:

If the SL barrel does what people on M4C say, I might swap the Heinie Straight 8's for Novak Adjustables.

First group had some vertical stringing, then I fired a 2nd 5 round group.

Hoss, would you say you're pleased with this? Worth the price you paid?

I've taken a break from 25 yd group shooting the past month or two. Our 2nd son was born, so I didn't make it to the range so much and with what time I did have, I worked on speed drills. Tonight I decided to see what I could do and was rewarded with the group below. 9 out of 10 inside 3". The 10th round opens the group to 5". Using my carry gun, Stock Gen 4 Glock 17 with a minus connector and Ameriglo TCAP sights. The "flier" was the first round. Tomorrow I'm thinking of trying loading 11 rounds into the mag and sending the first into the backstop...see if there's something to that whole first round flier thing.

I'll take this post with a grain of snark.

Based on the sub-50 rounds I've put through the gun with the SL barrel I can say it is without a doubt more consistent. Obviously I'll have to keep at it.

If the gun is capable, then I know I'm the variable. With M&P's, it's quite common that no one knows what the variable is.

You know, I debated posting anything for several days out of fear of it coming across that way. I honestly mean it as a sincere question. I did a 2 yr stint with a pair of M&P 9's and before going back to Glock I considered the G&R SL option. Thus, I'm genuinely interested to see how it's panning out for those that choose that route.
