Blanton's is still meh to me. Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace are solid. Bulleit Rye still is great and is still my preferred mixer for Manhattan's. Keep trying others and keep going back.

Think for yourself. Question authority.
Have you had a chance to try Templeton's rye, and some Luxardo cherries?

They really compliment each other very well in a Manhattan.
ETA: I have also found these to be very nice, if the Luxardo's are not handy:

Anything from the great state of Kentucky, naturally. Woodford holds the title of the oldest distillery in the Blue Grass State, with on-site distilling lineage dating back to the 1790's, might as well start there. Funny, I was just telling my wife today that I felt like picking up a bottle of bourbon. I'm thinking a nice bottle of Blanton's, and that would be my suggestion if you're looking for a single barrel bourbon.
If you want to go cheap, nothing wrong with Wild Turkey aka The Kickin' Chicken.
Bulleit or Traverse City. Enjoy either with a gurkha
