I was on a UA flight from Taipei to Narita (747,so,a while ago) that blew a tire on takeoff. We continued on to Narita.
Captain said the only worry was whether other nearby wheels were affected.

I cannot imagine the energy in that tire/wheel combo as it came down. Thems big tires and probably launched at 160+ knots.

I’ve landed on that runway hundreds of times (in fact got yelled at the other week for not taking the first high speed taxiway). I’ve seen a lot of long landings on 27 and they like to pack them tight.
Re United: I have always admired their flight operations from a safety standpoint, but they have long been saddled with shit management.
