Been enjoying some Four Roses Small Batch, and I have a bottle of Basil Hayden's that I need to open up.
On the mixed drink side, discovered Kentucky mules and highly recommend, especially on a warm day.

    Basil Hayden's is quite nice.

If you like it, you may want to keep an eye out for the Eagle Rare 17-year-old. The nice folks at Buffalo Trace release a few barrels every October, but not very many. The 10-year-old age statement is a great buy for the money, but the 17 is a real classic. I honestly think it's better than Pappy Van Winkle, and certainly a better buy for the money.

Before everyone begins to stack cordwood around my ankles, I have tried both on multiple occasions, and am not alone in my opinion.

    Not blasphemy, merely observation.

I prefer Blanton's over Pappy Van Winkle, not that I can find either one around here.

Basil Hayden's is quite good. Always reminds me of Deadwood.

Opened a bottle of Makers 46 the other night.

    I can pee outside.
Has anyone tried George Dickell, 8 year old Tennessee sour mash whiskey?

Had a glass or two over ice the other night... surprisingly smooth .

I had some of the 12 year last week and did not enjoy it. I did enjoy the Blanton's, Russell's, Rare Breed Turkey, and Satesman I had though. All neat...the only way to drink bourbon.

Old Weller ... any version, price varies but about half your budget
Four Roses Small Batch at $30 ... the Single Barrel goes a little over your budget at $40 - don't bother with the $20 Yellow Label as it isn't very good
    Buffalo Trace $20
Bulleitt $25 but I prefer their Rye
    Old Overholt Rye $20

I was able to try Blanton's for the first time a few weeks ago. It's my new favorite by a mile.

I also recently discovered Ben Milam bourbon whiskey and was impressed.

Thanks for the heads up. I saw that yesterday at Spec's, and was contemplating picking up a bottle.
