I recently bought a 2000 manufacture SIG P228 from Gunbroker. This pistol was listed as completely stock, and like new. The latter bit is certainly true, but the gun arrived at my FFL with a solid steel guide rod. I've had several SIG pistols, and I've never seen a solid guide rod before. Is this something the SIG factory was doing at some point, or an aftermarket addition to an otherwise stock gun?
FWIW, the gun has run perfectly through 500 FMJs and 200 124 grain +P GoldDots. I'm just curious if this is a SIG anomaly, or an aftermarket piece.
Thanks, all.
