I was expecting a lot of recoil, but it was surprisingly mild, even from the bench. Similar to my 11# .308, but louder. I could shoot it all day long.

These bolt guns are rekindling a long lost desire to get into longer-range shooting. I recently (today) gained access to a 1000 yard steel range so I'm going to have to start coming up with some ideas to take advantage of it. Researching the items listed in the last three pics in this thread have given me a lot to think about.

Given that pandemic price surges haven't touched precision guns/ammo/optics as much as other stuff, a nice bolt gun may be my next big firearm purchase.

More of a lab-or-a-tory experiment...it’s an older Century Lol. It’s been solid though. Must have been made on a Wednesday. It does this all day long at 200m. Good enough for me.

Don't want to put words in mouths, but based on the rear sight assembly and the magazines, it looks like a CETME variant (Century built are common). The HK G3 pattern has the diopter/drum rear and usually the straight mags with slight waffle pattern.

No. It’s a CETME. If I put my brain into the wayback machine, I believe the cast stainless receivers are stamped “St Albans VT”and the stamped receivers are marked “Georgia VT”. Mine is a cast stainless. There is a pic in the FAL thread of it in its original wood furniture. I tossed the G3 furniture on because I like the fore end better. The magazines were bought at some point when they were like 3.99ea. Stamped steel and parkerized. Bolt gap is good, although the chap I bought it from tossed in some additional rollers and other spare parts.
