1 mile, 2nd round hit. Fuck yeah!

While it is a bit lame, it is what this world has come to. The reality is, you can spend a grand on a quality action or you can try and make due with having your Remington 700 action trued up, bolt knob installed, extractor upgraded, firing pin bushed....$$ that should be spent on the custom action.
The Remington/Savage/Howa will work for 95% out of the box. It's when you stress them with an extended bolt handle, which was machined down from the thick factory diameter causing a stress point, and start jacking on the thing like a shifter in a Mack truck, you are going to see issues.
Remington bolt handles are silver solder on, and there are some good aftermarket solutions for the gunsmith to choose from if the shooter decides to upgrade.

I'm assuming that 700 isn't yours, @Clusterfrack
Love the new BCM handguard. Never seen a handguard fit so freaking tight around the barrel nut! I hope I don’t have to take the thing off for a long time!

If you actually pay for a Remington 700 Action (around $450.00) rather than buying a Promo Rifle on sale at say Dick's, than add for having it trued / blue printed (another $275) and upgraded with a recoil lug and Sako type extractor, you can buy a custom 700 clone that is so much better for under $1,000.00. Once you see how silky smooth a custom action is, you may never go back.

Or maybe a non-700 based design?
