Thread: Long Guns Photo Gallery

I am now officially... distinguished??? (old). Stepson has turned 18. Which is not the possible! I proposed grounding him, because birthdays can't happen on ground-ation, but wife said we had to let it happen (mumble, grumble, even handed, damned voice of reason, mumble). So, reluctant as may be, had to acknowledge the day with presents. Including his first legally all his own rifle:

It has been making the rounds of the gun shows the last three-ish years. Stepson has been eyeballin', and droolin', and trying to convince me of the practical merits of the family owning a Krag, each and every time it has been seen. So wife and I snuck back to a show and bought it earlier this year. Been stashed in the back of the gun safe since. Hopefully a fine starter rifle for a fine starter man. :-)

Is that a Black River Covert Comp? if so, does it help with muzzle blast?

Good eye. There isn’t much blast, but it does appear to help. And better than the big flash can that came with the original Palmetto upper.

I was interested in them because of my already trashed hearing. AR carbines are distinctly unfun to shoot with just regular ear plugs and it would give me considerable pause to think of shooting it without hearing protection. I dont seem to be blessed with the auditory exclusion that so many experience, I just get intense pain and instant "M_FER!!!!!!!!!!" response to shooting without protection, and Im very aware of the impending blast if I shoot without protection.

How do you like the K2 when shooting with the bipod deployed? Esp. from prone position.

Honestly I have not shot the rifle yet. I'm hoping to get it out tomorrow, and will try it prone and benched. My son has a K2 on his carbine and I like it.

Threw a CTR on my Aero SBR. Like it quite a bit, maybe more than the MOE SL it replaced, which will be used for a different gun.
