If someone doesn't care about the speed of their reloads, and fails to practice reloads from concealment regularly, then I doubt they'd notice the deficiencies of having a full sweatguard behind the mags. This probably describes 90% or more of the folks who CCW.

If he hadn't done so, I probably would have cut it off myself.

That said, I've also rounded off the port-side square corners on the back of a couple of carry mags for my P30 so they won't jab me in the tummy quite so enthusiastically when carried in the AIWB pouch. There's definitely a comfort-vs-utility tradeoff, especially if your baseplates aren't all nice radiused corners.
Tell us more about the aiwb mag pouch...pics would be great

I'll start a separate thread after I've shot some pics.

I think its for comfort! Even when I was skinny the mag holders would dig into me . IWB or OWB.

I never liked the traditional mag holders. The mag digs into me.

I do love the horizontal mag holders . Like from Wilderness.

Also found that I was a tad faster using the wilderness H mag holder.

Now I do like the sweat guard on my IWB holsters . it keeps the top of pistol from digging into me.

    I like the 'fat tab'.

Some mag base plates are sharp and dig into my worthless hide. Daily carry gyrations for the not-so-young, not-so-fit geriatic crowd are different than straight-up gaming equipment for the up and coming Captain America competitors.

Whatever works for you, or me, might not be the cat's whiskers for the rest of the world.
