I like the Seiko Core, but it doesn't have a backlight.
I haven't found glow in the dark hands to, well, glow worth a hoot.
any suggestions?

You can check reviews to see how others feel about lume coatings. Some watches have full lume dials. Here's a review for a Domasko that has a picture at the bottom. Back-lit displays vary depending on color and design. Another option is tritium markers. MTM has some models with bright LEDs that run off a rechargeable battery.

Do a search on Electro Luminescent or EL. It really limits your choices but I have it on a Bertucci and think its the best thing ever on an everyday watch.
Helson watches have been looking interesting for some time... I haven't been able to pull the trigger though, I am torn on just buying a damned Sinn or Omega and getting it over with rather than getting a box full of $500 watches that aren't either.
Think for yourself. Question authority.
You can get into a nice Sinn for much less than a decent used Omega. I love Omegas, have two of them, but barring my personal Grail (IWC black ceramic pilot) I'm quite certain my next watch will be another Sinn.
You guys party too hard for me...
I'm a Seiko kind of budget.
What if I get an android app that has a clock face of the Sinn?
It'll be more precise than the real thing, right?
