Are the GP100 and Security Six sights the same?

Having owned both, they are not.
The GP uses a "dovetail 'style interchangeable front, the SS uses a pinned front.
The rears are not interchangeable, as far as I know.
My GP is no longer, but the SS definitely has a different rear.

This thread is awesome. The revolvers in this thread look beautiful. I live in NW Florida, so a 9mm works here 99% of the time. I do have a few 357’s I’d carry when outdoors, camping, fishing, etc.

I’ll post pics once I figure out how

The iron sights can be a bit fuzzy these days, but if they are just a little further out there, like they are on a 6.5" barrel, it clears things up a tad bit.

This Pre-Model 26, with its front sight sitting out there helps, plus with the skinny tube, makes is a pretty good candidate for packing around various places looking for targets of opportunity, such as Jackrabbits, pine cones, grouse for the crock pot. You name it.

The old holster that is shown in the previous picture is one that I have had since I was in my early 20s. First it housed a Ruger MK II .22LR, then when I picked up a 6.5" 29-2 I found it fit perfectly and it rode in that holster for a good while. I only wish I had kept a journal of even 20% of the places traveled to in the Rocky Mountain west, while using that holster and one of those two guns.

The Patridge post on a 6.5” barrel is the perfect sight picture for me.

On my shorter-barreled Smiths with pinned front sights, I install 1/0”-thick posts (the factory sights are 1/8” thick.)

FWIW, that was Skeeter Skelton's preferred Front Sight Width with his 5" Model 27's back in the day--Gives you a lil' more "Daylight" on either side of the Front Sight when it's centered in the rear notch...

That's my guess. a 1/0" front sight would be undefined...
I was into 10mm Auto before it sold out and went mainstream, but these days I'm here for the revolver and epidemiology information.

Which would make it pretty difficult to machine….
