As others here have said, there is something special about 5 inch N Frames. This one started life as a Model 28, that now has a Model 57 barrel and cylinder in it. John Gallagher did the work and cut the barrel to 5 inches.

I could certainly be wrong, but don't the one's that came off your 58 have chamfered or rounded bottom edges? There were lots of other N frame Magna grips, but they weren't rounded like the ones on the 58. I thought. Maybe. I could be fulla shit though.
You're thinking of the N-frame PC Magna grips or stocks that only came on the S&W Model 58 and Model 520

Well, learning has occurred!
I had no idea they were different.
Apparently the diamond stocks were discontinued in 1966.
The Model 520 didn't arrive until 1980, so those grips are unique to early S&W Model 58 revolvers.
Some folks over on www.smithandwessonforums.com report that the "PC" stands for "Plain Clothes"
Square-butt revolvers with adjustable target sights tended to get either the large target grips or regular Magna grips while the ones with fixed sights would often get the more concealable PC Magna grips
